We love making content that's easy to follow!
Yoga Basics is broken down into rounds.
- Each round contains video lessons for 6-8 poses.
- Each video tutorial consists of 3 parts.
- Part 1: How to get into the pose
- Part 2: How to modify each pose to make it work for you.
- Part 3: Practice video.
At the end of each round are 2 sequences.
- Sequence 1: A full yoga sequence that includes all the yoga poses learned in that round and mixes in poses learned in previous rounds. Each pose is held for 5 breaths
- Sequence 2: The Variation Sequence, where you learn Pilates like movements to go deeper in each pose
That's it! See, no fluff! Follow along with the narrations or text boxes and we hope you'll become a regular around these parts.

Hey, I'm Melissa!
Hey! I’m Melissa, but most people call me Mel, Melvin, Elmo, Smelly Melly, etc.
I gotta tell ya, I never knew what the heck yoga was. I’d see people in holding poses at the gym and wonder if they fell asleep while standing. I fell off my bike one night in Honduras and had a minor fracture in my leg, which was a problem since I used to run as my primary form of exercise.
I didn’t want to gain a million pounds, so out of boredom and desperation, I started to balance on my injured leg to try to strengthen it. I got pretty good at holding my balance while doing tricks. I had no idea that the practice of building strength through balancing is an important part of what yoga is. And wouldn’t you know it, I got so strong I never needed the surgery on my knee that I was told I would. That was 12 years ago.
I’m a school teacher, turned yoga and fitness instructor studying to be a nurse. I currently teach middle school science. I made these tutorials so people who are unfamiliar with yoga and skeptical of its benefits can try it out and see if it makes their body work and feel a bit better. And before you say you’re not flexible or coordinated enough, remember that I started yoga because I was 24 years old and fell off my bike. So don’t worry!
